Last year was a stellar one for http://www.golfbuckscounty.com/. We thank you, our viewers for a great 2011!
We've learned long ago that you can't be all things to all people. Clearly though, we are about the great game of golf and how it impacts Bucks County. Of course, there are golf happenings in the Delaware Valley, out region or nationally that impact Bucks County golf, and we attempt to bring you stories of interest from anywhere.
As is every year, the number one story accessed on this side is "Bucks County Golf Courses," our summary of courses in the county. Nearly 9,000 people viewed that story in 2011 looking and finding information on the area's wonderful golf opportunities.

It's a rainy winter day, and my mind has started wondering to the game of golf.
It has been said that golf is a game for life, as both the young and old can experience the game and have a whole lot of fun playing the game.
By playing the game and keeping track of your score, you can earn a golf handicap which allows you to play other golfers in head-to-head or in tournaments where competition is fair and equitable because the better player "gives" strokes to the lesser player in an effort to make it a fair competition. This is a feature of the game that allows players with different abilities, ages, you name it to compete at the same level.

Imagine bending over to tie your shoe lace on a nice sunny afternoon and you can't perform this simple task. Imagine that your fingers were cold and had little feeling to loop the laces and tie a knot. That is the hazard of playing golf in mid-30 degree temperatures with wind chill in the 20's in January...and without gloves.
Standing on the eighth tee, traditionally a par 3 that plays in the 180 yard range and as I hit my drive I literally came out of my right shoe. Yes, I said drive as with my 9.5 degree driver, because on this day the 8th tee was the starting point for the par five 7th hole ending up at the 9th green at the Makefield Highlands Golf Club. Saturday, January 14, marked the playing of the Second Annual Artic Open and 60 die hard golfers showed up to play in this cross country event.

In 2011 scores of area golfers had outstanding achievements. Here's www.golfbuckscounty.com quick lookback at the year's top stories.
When it comes to golf in Bucks County, 2011 was a year of firsts.
Oh, there were the annual assortment of winners, no doubt about it. But there were also some historic firsts that "lap" the list of firsts.
