The competition for the Northampton Valley Country Club men's club championship was as contentious as every.
Ken Schaefer battled Blake Campbell for 34 holes before collecting a 2 and 1 victory in the championship flight.

The Northamton Valley ladies held their invitational and the 36-hole sectional qualifying for the U.S. Amateur was held at Cedarbrook and Sunnybrook. Also in the area was an American Junior Golf Association event where Erica and Zachary Herr posted top-10 finishes and the Philly Section PGA held several events, including a win by Yardley's Jackie Rogowicz.
Mary Beth Driscoll of the Bucks Club captured the Northampton Valley Country Club Ladies Invitational with a 78 (gross). A total of 82 ladies participated in the event.
Driscoll is a 5-time defending women's club champion at the Bucks Club.

Michael Brown of Lookaway Golf Club wins Philadelphia Open while Erica Herr of New Hope wins opening round match at USGA Junior Girls Championship in North Carolina.
Reinstated amateur Michael Brown of Lookaway Golf Club captured the 106th Philadelphia Open Championship on a day when New Hope's Erica Herr won her first round match at the USGA Junior Girls Championship.

Okay, pop question: Had you heard of South African Louis Oosthuizen prior to the British Open championship? Probably not. But that doesn't diminish his dominant effort in winning the Claret Jug. Great job, Louie...Lots of golf around Bucks County, from the Pennsylvania Open qualifying to a pair of familiar names winning across the Delaware River to junior golf. Enjoy.
Langhorne's Steve Arnold, a former member at Yardley where he claimed the 2005 and 2007 men's club championships, is taking a break from the E-Tour Professional Golf Tour to compete in the 93rd Pennsylvania Golf Association Open. Championship August 9-11 at Applebrook.

Names make news, and many local names were dotting the Golf Association of Philadelphia and Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour scoreboards, among other events including the Philadelphia Publinks Golf Association Open Amateur Championship.
A pair of Holy Ghost Preparatory School incoming seniors --- James DeLuca and Chrisian Holt --- were the smash of the Golf Association of Philadelphia's 25th annual Francis X. Hussey Memorial Junior Championship, and became the fourth and fifth area players to hoist the championship trophy.
