It's not only possible; it is actually an easy task.
Local teenager and golfer Zachary Herr has put together an outstanding array of golf memorabilia, adventures and experiences as part of his Zach Attacks Cancer Foundation drive to $50,000 to benefit the Fox Chase Cancer Center.
Young Mr. Herr, 13, plays out of Jericho National Golf Club, where he's a student of noted instructor Dom DiJulia. In recent year's Zack has fared well over the last two seasons in various regional and national tournaments. He has won both of his Golf Association of Philadelphia Team Matches competing on the Jericho National 1 squad this spring. Somehow along the way he goes attends Sol Fienstone school, does his chores and practices his golf swing.
A dedicated competitor on the course, Zack added an off course goal when his mother was diagnosed with colon cancer. That goal: to help fight the disease by the Fox Chase Cancer Center. To accomplish the lofty goal Herr has enlisted a legion of friends and fellow competitors with a focus on the Zack Attacks Cancer Charity Golf Tournament June 9 at Jericho National.
In addition to the tournament, Herr is selling "reminder bracelets" at $1 each and has sold more than 3,000 to date.
He has also put together an outstanding array of superb items for a fundraising silent auction for tournament day, including foursomes at the prestigious Metedeconk Golf Club, TPC at Jasna Polana, PGA National and the top-100 Somerset Hills Country Club.
For road warriors there are two-night packages at the Hotel Hershey and Marriott Seaview, site of the 1942 PGA Championship and numerous LPGA events. If Pinehurst is your quest, there aren't many better facilities than the Golfweek top-100 ranked Pine Needles Resort. An unbelievable stay and play package can be obtained for arguably the nation's top public course, Pebble Beach, and a Saturday night stay and bunch for the Hotel Madison is also available.
An extensive list of signed Philadelphia Flyers memorabilia, as well as items from LSU, Rutgers and even at signed Pat Summerall football is in the offering, to say nothing of New York Giants, New York Jets and Philadelphia Phillies tickets.
Golfers will love the Golf Matrix season long package of training from the Dom DiJulia School of golf. Dom is one of the nation's top instructors.
The list goes on, but time is running out for these and other outstanding memorabilia and experiences, all which go toward helping an outstanding cause. Even non-golfers will find a number of outstanding items that whet their appetites.
Complete details of the event can be found at: www.zachattackscancer.cfsites.org/ or by writing the Zach Attacks Cancer Foundation at 192 Brownsburg Road, New Hope, Pa. 18938, The online auction can be found through Zach's site or directly by pasting the following in your web browser: http://www.tournevents.com/_tournament/auction/ and going directly to the items.
Bottom line is that it's a lot easier to secure an outstanding item in the Zach Attacks Cancer auction than it is to score a hole-in-one. Comments (2)
