Okay, be honest.

Have you been working on your golf swing over the winter? Taking those imaginary swings in the basement, or actual swings in the back yard. Have you been down to Somerton Springs to beat a few balls into a snowbank?

Well, have you?

If you have, congratulations. That perseverance will undoubtedly help your game in the spring. But no practice you've done, real or imaginary, can compete with one Nigel Mangan.

Mangan works with Piranha Golf and earned a berth in the Guinness Book of World Records at the Demo Day at the 57^th PGA Merchandise Show. While the show is centered around the Orlando Convention Center, Mangan ventured to the demo dau activities at Orange County National Golf Club in Winter Garden. There, he set up shop and went after the record for most golf balls struck by an individual in a 12-hour span.

Seriously.

While scores of PGA professionals were trying out all the new and improved offerings by the golf club manufacturers, Mangan was at one end of the range pounding balls with Piranha Golf equipment.  All for a world record and for the benefit of the Folds of Honor Foundation. The Foundation provides scholarships to families of American soldiers killed or wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Mangan used a Piranha Golf hybrid club for his feat, which was aided by the use of an Egan's Golf Center training system that delivers a ball to a tee automatically every 1.5 seconds. He started his quest at 6 a.m. and continued to 6 p.m. with a few breaks along the way. The only rules of the road were that he hit the ball with a golf club and that the ball travels at least 100 yards.

Late in the day, at 5:16 p.m., the Irishman eclipsed the former record of 7,350 balls struck by one person in a 12-hour period.

He did not stop until he'd struck 7,721 balls.

That, friends, should get his game ready for play!
