Ivyland's Tim Hager played six events on the NGA Hooters Winter Tour Series over the last two months in Florida, making one cut.

The highlight was a 29th place finish at Diamondback, where rounds of 71-72-69 totaled 4-under-par 212 and earned a check for $872. Unfortunately for the Council Rock North High School and Georgetown University graduate his other events were not as strong. He missed five cuts, ending the winter series with a missed cut at Rio Pinar Golf Club on rounds of 80-76----156.

Still, it was a learning experience for the 4-time Lookaway Golf Club men's club champion. The NGA Hooters Tour, which begins next month, is the nations premiere "mini-tour". Many of its graduates have moved on to PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour careers, as the tour features 72-hole events with a 36-hole cut.

The Winter Series is a good stepping stone to NGA events. Chad Campbell was a 13-time NGA champion before moving to PGA Tour stardom, and players like Zach Johnson and Stewart Cink won on the tour before earning a major championship. Other PGA Tour winners who earned spurs on the NGA Hooters Tour include Bubba Watson, Camillo Villegas, Steve Flesch, Joe Durant and Jerry Kelly.

Hager closed out his 4th letter-winning career at Georgetown with a selection to the All-Big East Team, earning scholar-athlete honors along the way. His amateur career included a berth in the 2005 United States Amateur Championship. He's advanced to sectionals in U.S. Open qualifying.
