Winning a club championship, whether a men's or a women's title, takes a weaving of skill and luck. Clearly skill is number one, as one has to have the playing ability to bring home a championship, but luck is also involved in any sort of competition.

Some players have a knack for getting in position to win, and then winning, a club championship.

I have to admit I have never been a fan of 9-hole golf courses.

Golf has been an 18-hole game for as long as I've known it. Even when I've been short of time and could only play 9 holes, I felt as if I was cheating myself out of 9 holes of play. Some of this dislike may be rooted, if I really studied it, in the reality that one of my favorite golf course when learning the game in New Jersey was reduced from a beautiful 18-hole course to 9 disjointed holes due to a developer's desire to have homes instead of golf holes.

Zachary Herr was scheduled to make his 2010 playing debut in Texas.

The 14-year-old was scheduled to play in the 24th annual HP Boys Championship at Carlton Woods, the longest running boys invitational event on the American Junior Golf Association schedule. Unfortunately the blizzard that hit the Delaware Valley caused Herr to be grounded locally and miss the event.

Ivyland's Tim Hager played six events on the NGA Hooters Winter Tour Series over the last two months in Florida, making one cut.

The highlight was a 29th place finish at Diamondback, where rounds of 71-72-69 totaled 4-under-par 212 and earned a check for $872. Unfortunately for the Council Rock North High School and Georgetown University graduate his other events were not as strong. He missed five cuts, ending the winter series with a missed cut at Rio Pinar Golf Club on rounds of 80-76----156.
